So, my friend Ryan who went to the show with me last night told me: "Steve, be sure you mention three things about the show: gay, zebra, fabulous". Ok, I think I can do that, so here we go...

You know, I don't care if you're straight, gay, bi-sexual, or whatever... I guarantee you'd have a great time at a Scissor Sisters show. The interaction between Scissor Sisters' singer Ana Matronic and lead singer Jake Shears is just contagious... you really feel these two folks and the rest of the band are having a great time, and enjoying every second of it...

During their fabulous 75 minute set they played through most of the hits from both of their albums. Sound and stage presence were A+. They crowd (very interesting to say the least) was totally into it.

Lead singer Jake Shears kept losing more and more clothes during the show. By the end, he was simply dressed in zebra boxers and even climbed on the right side of the stage/audience... Very entertaining...

The in-between song banter was also great. The band talked about hanging out at Nye's Saturday night and getting their polka on. Also, they weren't so happy about the lack of sidewalks in Maplewood, MN, and having to eat at Taco Bell. Funny stuff...

To summarize... Scissor Sisters is really amazing live, so do check them out at venue near you. You'll have a great time.

A note on the venue... that's the first time I've been to Myth Nightclub in Maplewood. I have to say I'm impressed. It's fucking huge! The sight-lines and sound are A+. The only thing... it's almost too big for me. I'm used to hanging out at 7th Street Entry, 400 Bar, Varsity Theater, Triple Rock... I'm not used to a venue with 3000 music fans, instead of 50 ;)

Here's the video for "I Don't Feel Like Dancing":

P.S. I missed Badly Drawn Boy (who I love) last night. I'm pretty sure you'll find a review and photos here.

P.P.S. Monday, get ready, they're playing 5(!) tour dates in the US... The Faint @ First Avenue! I'm totally psyched, and I'll be there...

Cold War Kids - Saint John

I'm recruiting this video amateur. Seriously. A+:

Carmen Electra

Just because I'm house/dog/cat sitting and my car is screwed in Oakdale, MN, doesn't mean we can't have a little fun:

Unfortunately I'm still having car problems, so I'll keep this brief and let the multimedia do most the talking....

London's Razorlight put on a pretty cool show last Sunday @ Varsity Theater. You couldn't help but feel that these guys are HUGE everywhere except for "America". A grand opening with intro music, kick-ass drum solo and jam session to start their first song "In The Morning", numerous guitar changes, lots of Roadies everywhere, a Mick Jagger like lead singer (Johnny Borrell), lots of band members running and jumping around... the list goes on. These guys definitely are an arena band and that's where they belong. Next time, I want to see the "Johnny Borrell show" at a huge festival with thousands of drunken soccer hooligans singing along to every song...

I only caught a few tunes by fellow UK band Mohair. What I heard, I liked. The drummer even played trumpet while keeping up on his percussion duties during one tune... And yeah, lead singer Tom Billington looked like he was straight out of Spinal Tap.

Let's get to some multimedia and other content going and you can judge the show for yourself:
  • As indicated above, I took a lot of pictures and they're up on my Flickr. Brody, aka Rock 'n' Roll Star Jr., loved the show and has a review and great photos.
I recorded a shitty video (my camera needs upgrading, I think) at the show and posted it on YouTube:
The full setlist in other live YouTube Videos, in order, all filmed at the gig. I'm impressed. Minneapolis/St. Paul is starting to be pretty tech-savy:

And I even found a few Mohair live videos from the show for you:

Is that enough multimedia for you? I hope so... enjoy.

Hang Me Up To Dry

You know what sucks?
When you're house/dog/cat sitting in Oakdale, MN, for the week, and your car won't start.

You know what really sucks?
When you're on the guestlist to the sold-out out Cold War Kids show @ Varsity Theater that same day, and you can't go, due to car issues discussed above.

GRRRRR, do I need to say more?

Cold War Kids - Hang Me Up To Dry

Brody was at the show tonight, though. He was also @ Razorlight 3/4/07 and has some great photos. My recap should hopefully be up sometime tomorrow.

Cold War Kids paid a visit to the Current's studio this afternoon.

Robbie Williams (feat. Pet Shop Boys) - She's Madonna

It's too bad the only time we hear from Robbie in the US, is when he's in rehab. He's awesome. The video, is um, interesting, and pretty funny (via):

Snowstorm, The End

I think it finally stopped snowing! I haven't shoveled that much in a very long time. At least I got a "snowday" out of it... No way I could've gotten out of my garage this morning. Why exactly do I live here again?

Silversun Pickups on Last Call with Carson Daly

(Silversun Pickups live @ 7th Street Entry 8/12/06)

Silversun Pickups have been on "Last Call with Carson Daly" all week long. The show itself is unwatchable in my book; luckily you can view the performances here.

Culture Bully has the ripped mp3s for you.
