Patrick Wolf - The Magic Position

Is "The Magic Position" out in the US yet? I thought it was; nope, not until 5/1/07...

In the meanwhile you can stream the whole thing on Spinner (AOL).

You can watch him live in Mpls/St. Paul with Amy Winehouse 5/7/07 @ Varsity Theater (sold out). This might be is his one and only show here.

Patrick Wolf - The Magic Position:

Patrick Wolf - The Libertine:

Amy & Patrick should probably check into rehab together ;) I'm betting $5.00 that the Varsity Theater gig will get canceled.

We Are The Angry Mob: Kaiser Chiefs / The Walkmen / The Little Ones @ Trocaderos 4/21/07

KaiserChiefs_6338
(Kaiser Chiefs @ Trocaderos 4/21/07)

Wow. Kaiser Chiefs really know how to put on a live show. Lead singer Ricky Wilson is a riot to watch. I've written about it before. The new stuff sounded way better live than on record. The old stuff drove the crowd mad (including myself). I think I'm still sore from jumping around during "I Predict A Riot" and "Oh My God".

Don't believe me? Here's a live video from the show (not taped by me). Ricky jumps on the Trocaderos bar and introduces the band during this one.

Kaiser Chiefs - Take My Temperature:

More videos from the gig:
Opening band The Little Ones were pretty good. They had a nice indie-pop type of sound. The Walkmen really performed a pretty sweet set as well. It was a bit short; they didn't play a couple of my favorite tunes. "Louisiana" with the brass section was really cool, though. I'll have to catch them headlining next time...

You can find more coverage of the gig on Brody's blog. Jon Bream from the Strib liked it too.

OK, here are more photos from the show.

Klaxons live @ 7th Street Entry / The Frames live @ First Avenue 4/17/07

I'm a bit late to the party with this recap so I'll keep this brief. Wow, what a night! Klaxons had the tightly packed 7th Street Entry crowd jumping and dancing along to the "nu-rave". They definitely lived up the hype. Ireland's 2nd biggest band, The Frames (who I only caught the tail end of), also delivered a spectacular set. They were one of my favorite bands a couple of years ago at Austin City Limits, and my opinion of them hasn't changed... What a great live band.

Check out some other recaps/reviews and related multimedia content:

Hüsker Dü - Live on Late Show with Joan Rivers (April 27, 1987)

For some reason I ran across this video on elbo.ws most viewed videos today. This was taped before I had even moved to the US. Actually, I didn't know to this day, that there ever was a "Late Show with Joan Rivers". Watching the interview in-between the two songs of the video, I think I understand why ;)

How was the show? Awesome, actually. Let's Go Sailing was pretty mellow... I enjoyed them, though, their in-between-song banter was pretty funny. "Doggie-style"... ;) Trust me, you had to be there...

Elvis Perkins, who I hadn't really heard a whole lot about before, wow, him and his band were absolutely fucking great. Seriously, I'm impressed. A mixture between Dylan, Bright Eyes, and Serge Gainsbourg... pretty sweet.

Blah, blah, blah, here's a video from the show.

This is the WORST rendition (shit) of the tune I've ever heard. Again, has everybody completely lost their mind??? Seriously, I'll take the Goo Goo Dolls version over this any day.
