Brazilian Girls & Boys

It's "International Day" here today on my blog! Some very diverse stuff I've been listening to lately. Today's post covers 2 artists, 1 from the US, and 1 from Brazil. It also includes mp3s in 4 different languages: English, French, German, and Portugese. I guess I'm going "global" today...

I love when the Current introduces me to new music... Case in point, Brazilian Girls, who've had their tune "Homme" in rotation (if you can call it that) over the past couple of weeks. I was immediately hooked and tracked down their self-titled record. The album is outstanding. A little background on the band... Brazilian Girls are not from Brazil (they actually hail from Brooklyn, NY), neither are they girls, except for the multi-cultural lead singer Sabina Sciubba. Sabina speaks around 5 different languages and her diverse backround is very evident in the band's music. Musically they're a mixture of house music, electronica, world music, samba, pop, etc., it goes on and on. They really don't fit well into any genre. All you fans of Thievery Corp and the Verve Remix Collections will definitely love this band! I know I do.

Continuing with the Brazilian theme of the day. As promised here are a couple of tunes from the excellent The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou Soundtrack...

Seu Jorge really deserves his own post in the near future...

Make sure you check out the hilarious quotes from the movie here (even if you haven't seen it)!
