So, how's everybody's week going? By the time you read this it's probably Friday where you live! Bloody great, right? The picture/album-cover above may help as well...I'm totally "scatter-brained" this evening... so much stuff going on, I don't even know where to begin, let-alone know how to orgazine all this information. Well, I'll try my best:
In music/entertainment news Thursday:
- Babyshambles postpone their tour for the new single "Fuck Forever". Now that's a shocker, right?!
- One of my favorite bands "The Strokes" hit the road in October. Can't wait to hear what the new album is going to sound like...
- Franz Ferdinand on their new album... Can't wait to see these guys at ACL! They like MN's own Bob Dylan... perhaps they'll go more into a Prince/Symbol-guy direction on their next album?
- I'm adding "Stereogum" to my blog list! Bloody brilliant blog... Check out the 7/11/05 entry on Lindsay Lohan (among so many other great entries), who's shooting her next movie here right now. I still haven't "bumped" into her so far... Come on "God", I don't wish for things a whole lot of things, right? Please help me out on this one...
- HowWasTheShow.com has new reviews out on: 1) Violent Femmes, 7/5/05, First Avenue; 2) Dennis DeYoung (Styx), 7/2/05, Taste Of MN; 3) John Waite, 7/2/05, Taste of MN; 4) The Eels, 6/21/05, Pantages Theatre. None of these are really my cup of tea (except for the Eels and Violent Femmes) so feel free to look up your own hyperlinks...
- Drive 105 (local MN radio station) welcomes the 10,000 lakes festival! Pretty lame if you ask me! Then again, sometimes it's "just about the party", I guess...
- Looking through the local City Pages newspaper: "God's Favorite Band" is re-uniting for a show this Friday, 7/15/05, @ First Avenue, 7th Street Entry! These guys were pretty big in the early 90's in the Twin Cities... All I remember (as I was in college) is that they were really fucking loud! The name of the band is "priceless" any way you look at it, however...
- The British band "Embrace" (the next "Keane") will be playing Quest Ascot room 8/6/05. Probably the only really great tune, was written by a certain Mr. Chris M by Coldplay... but then again, that's my opinion... I'll probably go check them out...
- 89.3, the Current, one of the best US radio stations (you can stream it online), has a bunch of great performances you can stream or download! Bob Mould, and lots of great stuff next week (The Sights, Caesars) etc... Check it out!
- The Filter-Magazine "British Accents Newsletter", 7/14/05 is out! Me love...
- Curtesy of Filer-Magazine once again... Kaiser Chiefs will be on Regis and Kelly... figured I'd let you know... this one really falls more into the "I don't give a shit category" , as I (and most of you) work during the day! Sorry...
- Read this brilliant review by Edward Scott of the "T in the Park" festival in Scotland! It's pretty funny!... Yet, very good...
- And they just added "Billy Corgan" from Webster Hall!
- Coldplay hit the big time! Seems like yesterday these guys were nobodies... Rolling Stone.com... I check this site just for you, readers! I really don't like this magazine and their website...
- Speaking of the "shit rag" above (there, I wasn't so nice on that one) called "Rolling Stone"... you can download some live performances by Louis XIV (see picture above). Now that's what I call art (the album art-work)! Check out Louis XIV website for their videos, as you can never fully enjoy these on MTV, trust me! Don't do this at work however...
- NYC, I shoud live there! Courtesy of the Village Voice, you have this kick-ass free festival this weekend! When am I moving again?!
- Local kids: Marshall Field's Day of Music is going on...
- Get this... Rob Zombie has a new movie out called "The Devil's Rejects"... looks pretty scary I have to say... The advertisement says" This is the Terminator of horror films"! Enough said, I think...
Wow, that was a lot of info, I have to say! I had to single-space that post because there's more coming... Here's what's going on in other related (or not so related stories):
- I just taped an interview with Ringo (aka Rock n roll dog) a couple of days ago. From my annual "Christmas" email I can tell that people really like this... here's an excerpt from the interview, I'll post the full transcript either tomorrow, or next week: (RRS = Me, RRD = Ringo)
RRS: What's going on in your love-life lately?
RRD: Cum' on Steve, what kind of question is that? You remember taking me to the Vet to have me neutered about a year ago, right? I miss my balls! The real question is... how's your love-life? Pretty pathetic from what I see around here... And I mean that in a good way!
RRS: Ringo, ahhh that hurts.... I'm the guy asking questions here by the way... So you're anti-relationships?
RRD: No not at all, life is like "catching a frisbee", sometimes you catch it, sometimes you don't...
RRS: Wow, that's pretty wise... How do you feel about the recent "Work Flow Software", "Open Sourcing", "Outsourcing", "Offshoring", "Supply Chaining", "Insourcing", and "In-forming" going into the 21st century?
RRD: Again, life is like "chasing a ball or catching a Frisbee"... most of the time you catch it and sometimes you don't... What the fuck kind of question is that, what's your problem?
As you can tell I have a lot of "editing" to do before I can put the whole interview on this site. Rock 'n' roll dog is a bit like Liam Gallagher... good boy!
In other related personal news I'm still working on the following projects:
- Getting my carpet ripped out of my attic/guest bedroom area. 700 square feet, bigger than a lot of Manhattan apartments! I've been working on this for 6 weeks now...
- Getting Ringo (aka Rock n Roll Dog) to quit barking so much! It's a new habit he's picked up... barking at the neighbors... well, we're working on it...
- Still working on Queenvick's website.
- I love Summer! Most of the time when I get home after work I just chill w/Ringo in the backyard and have a couple of cold beverages (i.e. Beer). Priceless! I wish life could be like this 6 months a year...
Go out and enjoy Summer while you can!
P.S. There's so much stuff I forgot... I'll post tomorrow!
